The bus trip model calculates the carbon footprint of passenger bus travel. Built on authoritative source data for both city transit and regional coach bus classes, the tool lets users supply basic information about a bus itinerary and calculates the greenhouse gas impact for that trip.
A sample application of the bus trip model is in the transportation branch of our personal carbon profiler.
Impact scope The bus trip emission estimate is the anthropogenic emissions per passenger from fuel and air conditioning used by the bus during the trip. It includes CO2 emissions from combustion of non-biogenic fuel, CH4 and N2O emissions from combustion of all fuel, and fugitive HFC emissions from air conditioning.
